EDVANCE, created on June 1, 2017 and owned 80% by EDF and 20% by Framatome, is a subsidiary of EDF, in charge of the design (basic design) and the realization (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide. Spearhead of the French nuclear industry, it aims through its objectives and challenges of economic competitiveness and performance, to position itself sustainably in nuclear markets internationally and those of the renewal of the French fleet.
Description de la mission
For the Sizewell C (SZC) Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway under a Responsible Design contract (RD) with the client (SZC Co) and being delivered and managed from both France and the UK.
The Sizewell C Civil Works Building Responsible is a product-oriented position, accountable for the development of a structure, building, few buildings or transverse area. The key duties, responsibilities and deliverables of the Sizewell C Civil Building Responsible are:
- Ensuring the coordination for transverse topics and complex technical open points (with other programs & disciplines); He/She is accountable for the evolution of these activities
- Supporting the preparation of technical documentation for procurement, jointly with the Contract Engineering Lead (CEL).
- Supporting the Employer on behalf of the CEL for the coordination of technical discussions during the procurement phase
- Ensuring that each technical issue is taken in charge by the NI CW activities and he/she is responsible for the resolution of transverse/complex technical open points for the pertaining contract
- Supporting the CEL in the coordination with L3 CW designer and other stakeholders for producing the design; carrying on the review and acceptance of deliverables for key/transverse deliverables, ensuring that all deliverables are produced according to the validated schedule.
- Identifying the need for updates of key and transverse documents such as hypothesis notes, transverse handovers, etc. and producing them in time for the L3 designer input data package.
- Coordinating the support of the Technical Leads for design open points
- Providing technical support to the Contract Engineering Lead (CEL) when necessary for specific technical topics
- Supporting the CEL to prepare progress reports for the SZC PM and identifying any risks to program or costs
- Reviewing technical proposals for design variations relying on the Technical Leads’ support
- Be responsible for the replication of the HPC design to SZC within its scope of responsibility
- Managing workload and associated resources: distribution of tasks within the team, assessment of the work done by the team members, highlight of the need for more or less team members or specific profiles
- Preparation of design change papers and their presentation in change committees
- Collect, analyse and verify the consistency of input data from previous projects and disciplines
Profil
The proposed position is:
- Operationally attached to the Sizewell C Senior Civil Architect
- Located in the Edvance UK office, 800 Aztec West, Bristol, England.
General and technical background expected :
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of experience
- Nuclear projects’ experience
- Background in EPR technology, in particular FA3 or HPC project is desirable
Skills required :
- Technical knowledge of civil engineering
- Close communication with other programs and disciplines
- Competence managing design changes and configuration management
- Experience in similar large and complex project(s) such as the EPR (desired).
- Flexible and pragmatic solution focused approach to technical coordination
- UK context knowledge and understanding of CDM regulations
- Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to set, achieve and maintain high standards of safety and quality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
