Description de la BU

As part of the Responsible Designer for the Hinkley Point C EPR project, EDVANCE provides Engineering Design support for the Balance of Nuclear Island (BNI). CNEPE delivers similar works for the Conventional Island (CI) and Balance of Plant (BoP).

The Joint Design Office (JDO) is part of the HPC Engineering Directorate. Within its scope of delegated authority, the JDO provides technical support to the HPC site for the resolution of technical issues arising during construction works as well as erection, commission and testing. The JDO is also in charge of the resolution of open points and design changes.

Description de la mission

The JDO is managed by HPC, Licensee and Manager of the HPC Project. It is made up of staff from:

  • HPC, managing the teams and owning the processes,
  • EDVANCE and CNEPE who study and approve design changes as well as non-conformances within their scope of delegated authority,
  • Contractors who previously delivered the detailed design.

Within this organization the JDO Mechanical Engineer report to JDO Piping Discipline Lead. The position is located on Hinkley Point C construction site.

The mission will consist of supporting all studies of mechanical structures, more particularly for piping stress analysed containment liner, pool, sumps and tanks liner carried out in France or in the United Kingdom with the designer and the contracting authority.

The Mechanical Engineer is in charge of:

  • Making clarifications of the deliverables necessary for the Installation with the help of the Back Office who carried out the studies (Bristol and Paris – Malakoff),
  • Closing of open points and comments,
  • Assessing and answering technical issues arising during erection and construction works
  • Assessing and integrating modification coming from the stakeholders after packages handed-over to JDO,
  • Doing some hand calculations and running anchorages macros to assess the feasibility of modification,

  • Proposing improvements for the studies not finalized,
  • Maintaining Edvance’s QA procedures in delivering the design,
  • Working with CAD designers/detailers in the preparation of the design drawings,
