Description de la BU

EDVANCE, société créée le 1er juin 2017 et détenue à 80% par EDF et 20% par Framatome, est une filiale d'EDF, en charge de la conception (basic design) et de la réalisation (des études, à l'approvisionnement, au montage jusqu'aux essais et la mise en service) d'îlots nucléaires pour les nouveaux projets en France et à l'international. Fer de lance de la filière nucléaire française, elle vise de par ses objectifs et enjeux de compétitivité économique et de performance, à se positionner durablement sur les marchés du nucléaire à l'international et sur ceux du renouvellement du Parc français.

EDVANCE portera notamment la responsabilité de la conception et de la réalisation de l'îlot nucléaire pour le projet Hinkley Point C et de la conception de l'EPR NM, modèle d'EPR optimisé intégrant les retours d'expérience des chantiers EPR en cours. Elle portera également les offres et projets de nouveau nucléaire en France et à l'international.

Description de la mission

The Waste Treatment Systems Group Leader is responsible for leading and managing a specialist team of Systems Engineers within EPR-E. They must ensure the accurate completion and verification of system engineering deliverables to be issued to the Customer (NNB) in accordance with the technical requirements and following the overall project schedule. They must also manage the update of System Design Manuals in consistency with site and most recent supplier feedbacks.

 

Operating within the Process Department within EPR-E the Waste Treatment Systems Group Leader will manage a team of professional engineers and technicians. 

 

Depending on his/her scope of activities and areas of expertise within the section as well as the phase of the project, the Waste Treatment Systems Group Leader will oversee the following engineering activities:

  • Maintain up to date the Systems Description Documents  (SDM) taking into account changes at the interfaces, site and supplier feedbacks,
  • Design of the systems (including definition of the piping network, sizing of active equipment, thermal-hydraulic calculations, safety features, Instrumentation and Control specification)
  • Population of the “process” databases,
  • Preparation of documents for systems operations,
  • Preparation of the start-up system configuration and periodic test protocols
  • Maintain up to date documents for the requirements for Control & Instrumentation
  • Management of the supplier contracts and/or monitoring of design and manufacturing of the systems.

 

The Waste Treatment Systems Group Leader will be required to develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (Other engineering disciplines & project teams within EPR-E and Edvance France, EDF CNEPE, suppliers) ensuring that their expectations are met. The Waste Treatment Systems Group Leader will need to influence key stake holders such as site teams and more widely the Licensee NNB.

 

The Waste Treatment Systems Group Leader will have responsibilities for Technical Leadership, Health and Safety, Work Planning, Succession Management, Quality Assurance, skill development on the job, and budgets. He/She may be asked to manage the performance of several Local Mother Companies staff and support their development.

 

The Waste Treatment Systems Group Leader will be a role model and demonstrate the highest standards of focus on nuclear professionalism and safety.

 

The Waste Treatment Systems Group Leader is responsible for the production of documents to be delivered to the Customer. Although the final approval might be done by the Process Department Manager, the Waste Treatment Systems Group Leader will be required to verify the quality of the documents in line with the technical, nuclear safety and environmental standards and requirements. They will also be required to provide the Process Department Manager with input on potential risks and issues related to quality, workload, schedule, resources, etc

Profil

Principal Accountabilities

  • Monitor team resources, processes, workload activities continually to ensure optimum performance,
  • Responsible for maintaining a suitable balance between workload, skills and resources to ensure deliverables are issued on time and with quality,
  • Manage progress against deliverables and project schedule, report any potential issues to the Process Department Manager and make recommendations,
  • Responsible for the technical quality and consistency of the team’s deliverables i.e. Verify and approve technical documents and deliverables before the Process Department Manager’s final approval,
  • Provide / ensure appropriated technical leadership guidance and expertise to the engineers and technicians,
  • Manage resources planning within budget and provide feedback to the Process Department Manager and Discipline Manager,
  • Lead, develop and implement the nuclear safety culture within the team,
  • Support the overall knowledge management of the System discipline by ensuring proper capitalisation of knowledge / Operational Experience,
  • Represent the Process Department Manager in their technical area of expertise as primary point of contact with Edvance France and Intelligent Customer.

 

General and technical background expected

  • Mechanical or Process Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
  • 5+ years’ experience of process engineering or relevant experience in the HPC project
  • Relevant experience in the nuclear industry
  • Ability to effectively manage own and team’s workload in order to respect deadlines and KPI requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both written and orally, in English
  • Proactive and confident in communicating with others, particularly those based in remote offices including France, Germany.
  • Proactive in developing positive working relations with others within the project

 
Skills required

  • Knowledge of EPR system design sequences, Instrumentation and Control architecture and Safety Classification
  • Experience of working on an EPR project, Nuclear operating fleet
  • Experience in the management of transverse technical and contractual topics
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability.
  • Good organizational, writing and oral expression skills in English are essential for the realization of the activities of document production, steering and interfaces with the various correspondents.
  • Ability to prioritise, to manage numerous interfaces, to question and understand the imperatives of other downstream disciplines.
