EPR-E, a company created on 1st September 2023 is a subsidiary of Edvance (equal share between EDF and Framatome).
EDVANCE is in charge of the design (basic and detailed design) and the realization (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects in France.
In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for the Hinkley Point C project and for Sizewell C.
The Joint Design Office (JDO) is part of the HPC Engineering Directorate. The JDO provides technical support to the HPC site for the resolution of technical challenges and issues arising during construction works as well as erection, commission and testing.
Description de la mission
The Technical Configuration team (3-4 peoples) ensures the optimisation of the technical activities by providing support to all engineering teams based in the Joint Design Office (JDO - located on HPC site) for the UK HPC EPR project. It ensures a strong link between the configuration management activities performed in the Edvance back-office and on the JDO.
The Technical configuration manager is responsible for or assist with several of the below listed activities depending on the job/project requirements and the job holder’s competences and experience:
- Configuration management (Design changes, open-points, interfaces)
Being in charge of the Design Change Management by piloting and coordinating the technical aspects of the Configuration (Design changes/Open points/Referential) between the different internal and external stakeholders ensuring a consistent and optimised (challenges the technical impacts) design for the Project. - Coordination of cross-functional technical issues:
Ensuring the resolution of various cross-functional technical issues by coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders.
Participating where necessary in coordination meetings organised by the various parties involved in the project (modification committee, project decision meeting, etc.)
Presenting and sharing progress, including KPI production, data analysis to support management and decision making - Participation to different Project Committees:
Committees can be the Technical Referential Committee, Change Management Boards, NI Risks & Opportunities Committee, …
Other activities:
- Carries out internal quality control: checks the consistency of the engineering deliverables
- Taking part in the management of experience feedback from previous projects
- Reports to the team manager on his/her activity
Work will be done closely with the Client and the Clients Tier 1 Contractor.
Acting under delegation of the JDO Technical Transverse Discipline Lead, the JDO Technical Configuration Manager may be responsible for:
- Looking over the consistency of the design modified by the JDO teams,
- Making sure that methods, referential, tools, process and delegated authority from the back-office teams are complied with,
- Looking over the interests of the Responsible Designer in the JDO on a daily basis, in particular with respect to topics such intellectual property and responsibility of the Responsible Designer further to modification of their design by the JDO teams.
The JDO Technical Configuration Manager should also be involved in the development strong relations with the different Back-Offices in Bristol/Paris/Tours
Profil
General and technical background expected :
Essential :
- Science, engineering master degree or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of experience in design and coordination of technical topics in (at least) one of the following disciplines: nuclear safety, systems, civil work, layout, piping, HVAC, Elec, Equipment
- Understanding of layout rules for an industrial project, in particular for the Nuclear Industry
- Understanding of construction specifications for mechanical and electrical disciplines
- Experience working in a multicultural environment
Desirable :
- Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies/doctrine/configuration management is a real asset.
- Experience on project dealing with material interfaces
- Knowledge of the general operation of nuclear power station and the associated safety aspects (in particular, aspects relating to flooding, fire, radiological protection, high energy line ruptures, etc.)
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software (Navisworks)
Skills required :
- Good capacity to animate, follow and coordinate Design Changes and Open Points.
- Experience in the management of various cross-functional technical issues by coordinating multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability
- Good organizational, writing, and oral expression skills in English are essential for the realization of the activities of document production, steering and interfaces with the various correspondents
- Ability to prioritise, to manage numerous interfaces, to question and understand the imperatives of other downstream disciplines.
- Ability to meet commitments and deadlines.
