Job description

EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.

In particular, EDF EPR-E UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.

The main activities of the Design Configuration Engineer are as follows:

·       Strengthen Configuration Management Processes and Tools:

o   Act as UKDC Process Owner

o   Adapt processes for PostCS2 configuration and commissioning management

o   Propose improvements for associated tools (issue characterization, solution proposals, tool requirements definition)

o   Identify potential risks related to configuration management and propose mitigation strategies.

o   Deploy and monitor processes for managing design changes, including inter-scope (CNEPE/EDVANCE/Framatome/NNB)

·       Support to the DCC (Design Change Committee) Chair:

o   Oversee and manage the weekly DCC

o   Approve T1/T2 Design Changes

o   Anticipate risks of changes and challenge modifications

·       To coordinate or lead technical topics depending on project needs;

·       To participate in the arbitration and prioritisation of technical topics;

·       Stakeholder Communication:

o   Facilitate regular communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment and address any concerns.

o   Organize and lead workshops or meetings to discuss configuration management topics.

·       Animate the Design Change Process:

o   Prepare and provide UKDC training as required

o   Produce and analyze performance indicators and reporting (KPIs)

o   Conduct audits to verify compliance and implement corrective actions as needed.

o   Lead the resolution of configuration-related incidents and issues/Non Conformances

·       Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices in configuration management.

·       Support the NI Configuration Manager for managing activities and achieving Configuration team objectives;

·       Contribute to the production of deliverables that are the responsibility of the Configuration Management team;

This role is key in the management and running of the Edvance Design Change Process and contributes greatly to HPC engineering performance. It sits in the Configuration Management Team of the Edvance /EPRE HPC Technical Direction, with close collaboration with the Design Coordination Team, Technical director and deputy.

Profile

To be considered the following qualifications, experience and skills are essential:

·       Degree Level or equivalent in a relevant subject;

·       Good knowledge and experience of the EPR design and engineering processes;

·       Good understanding of requirements and expectations of UK laws, regulations, nuclear industry operating experience and best practices;

·       Ability to understand complex technical topics and to produce accurate synthesis

·       Strong organisation and time management skills;

·       Excellent communication, organisational and people engagement skills;

·       Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;

·       Exemplary team and pastoral management skills;

·       Ability to set, achieve and maintain the highest standards of safety and quality;

·       Fluent English.

Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills

·       Experience in transverse technical coordination

·       At least 5 years experience in engineering

·       Leadership experience in a highly regulated, technical environment;

·       Working knowledge of the French language;

·       Good overall technical background
