EPR-E, a company created on 1st September 2023 is a subsidiary of Edvance (equal share between EDF and Framatome).
EDVANCE is in charge of the design (basic and detailed design) and the realization (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects in France.

In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for the Hinkley Point C project and for Sizewell C.

Description de la mission

The individual will be requested to support the construction activities of piping and supports on BNI and BOP scope supporting the Contract Engineering Lead.

 

The main activities consist in technically supporting the Contract Engineering Lead (construction activities) by leading some transverse technical topics. This will involve organisation of technical meetings, coordination with all key stakeholders, writing of technical engineering documents.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Support the Contract Engineering Lead activities for Piping Construction activities on BNI and BOP, in particular:
    • Leading technical topics towards a best for project solution
    • Coordinate discussions with all key stakeholders
    • Answering to Technical Queries
    • Resolving the construction Open Points
    • Supporting to HK8010 Contract Engineering Lead (CEL) to manage Early Warnings
    • To handle specific technical topics and support to project managers to prepare BFPI/CMB/PCR paper, etc.      
  • Proactive reactivity and technical experience to enable site construction activities to be executed without blocker to delivery, by providing technical support/expertise to close all open points / technical queries raised by the construction contractor.

 

 

Contextual Information:

  • Operating Environment
    • The MEH programme is about to enter a change in delivery phase to commence bulk installation on site from the start of 2024, whereas previously the focus has been on securing the design and manufacturing. As such the spotlight will fall on the piping construction activities for the next couple of years.
    • The “BNI-BOP Piping – Transverse technical engineer – Support to construction” reports functionally to the “BNI & BOP Piping – Piping Construction (HK8010) CEL (Contract Engineering Lead)”.
    • The role will require strong communication with external stakeholders, including the Responsible Designer, the Manufacturer and mainly the Erection Contractor.

 

  • Frameworks and Boundaries
    • The “BNI-BOP Piping – Transverse technical engineer – Support to construction” is part of a wider of team of engineers reporting to the BNI & BOP Piping Engineering Manager delivering the E2E life cycle of the piping scope.
    • The “BNI-BOP Piping – Transverse technical engineer – Support to construction” has counterparts within the Piping Engineering organisation, on other areas (BNI), who perform equivalent role for this other area.

 

  • Dimensions:
    • MEH End to End Engineering team is currently circa 120 engineers
    • Piping Engineering team consists of circa 40 engineers
    • Budget responsibilities:
      • management of the MEH JV (installation company) is owned by the Programme Senior Project Manager. The base scope (piping, electrical and HVAC installation) of the JV contract is £800m.
      • efficient management of resourcing according to a defined budget.

Profil

Essential knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience working in an equivalent / related role in the construction industry.
  • Meticulous and rigorous approach to engineering to achieve high professional standards.
  • Good communication skills allowing positive streams with key stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to successfully deliver engineering safely to the correct quality, time and cost in a fast paced, schedule driven environment.
  • Ability to work autonomously but with awareness of own limitations.
  • Knowledge of contractual and commercial mechanisms.

 

Desirable knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in related engineering field.
  • Chartered Engineer with relevant engineering institute.
  • Detailed understanding of PWR design and experience in PWR operations.
  • Working knowledge of French language an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of CDM Regulations.

  • Technical competences to coordinate and perform some surveillance on the Contractor deliverable.
