Description de la BU

EPR-E, a company created on 1st September 2023 is a subsidiary of Edvance (equal share between EDF and Framatome).
EDVANCE is in charge of the design (basic and detailed design) and the realization (studies, procurement, erection, testing and commissioning) of nuclear islands for new projects in France.

In particular, EPR-E is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for the Hinkley Point C project and for Sizewell C.  

Description de la mission



As part of the Responsible Designer for the Hinkley Point C EPR project, EDVANCE provides Engineering Design support for the Balance of Nuclear Island (BNI). CNEPE delivers similar works for the Conventional Island (CI) and Balance of Plant (BoP).

The Joint Design Office (JDO) is part of the HPC Engineering Directorate.
JDO staff are part of EPR-e.



Within its scope of delegated authority, the JDO provides technical support to the HPC site for the resolution of technical issues arising during construction works as well as erection, commission and testing. The JDO is also in charge of the resolution of open points and design changes that were not closed before site activities.



The JDO is managed by HPC, Licensee and Manager of the HPC Project. It is made up of staff from:

  • HPC, managing the teams and owning the processes,
  • EDVANCE and CNEPE who study and approve design changes as well as non-conformances within their scope of delegated authority,
  • Contractors who previously delivered the detailed design.


Within this organization the JDO Equipment Engineer report to JDO equipment discipline Lead. The position is located on Hinkley Point C construction site.

The mission will aim to support the construction of the two EPR on HPC by:

  • Answering to requests coming from building and erection contractors on equipment discipline by:
    • Gathering all needed input for the answer,
    • Producing technical assessment and solution, with supporting justification,
    • Liaising with design back-offices or execution designer when needed,
    • Assessing and listing the impacts of the site change on the equipment design,
    • Opening the dedicated change process to launch the implementation of the impacts,

 

  • Reporting to the Equipment Discipline Lead achievements, progresses and difficulties and raising alerts on any aspects of the design when identified,
  • Contributing to the closure of design open points after the delivery of design packages to site,
  • Being part of JDO Equipment team, participating to Team meetings, sharing technical topics,
  • Contributing to build OPEX for other projects (SZC or EPR2),
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of the team.


    In a near future, the Equipment Engineer will be the entry point in JDO side for some contracts and equipment (to be defined) and will be responsible to interface with all the stakeholders.

Profil

 

General and technical background expected

 

Essential:

  • Science, mechanical engineering degree
  • First experience in Equipment design and constructions activities
  • Experience in equipment installation (site) or manufacturing

 

If possible:

  • Knowledge of EUROCODE, RCC-M code
  • Knowledge of 2D and 3D design softwares: PDMS, NavisWorks
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies/doctrine is a real asset

 


Skills required

  • Experience in the management of transverse technical topics
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, organisation, writing ability.
  • Good organizational, writing and oral expression skills in English are essential for the realization of the activities of document production, steering and interfaces with the various correspondents.
  • Ability to prioritise, to manage numerous interfaces, to question and understand the imperatives of other downstream disciplines. Ability to meet commitments and deadlines.
  • Committed to deliver to cost, quality and schedule
  • Ability to cope in a technically complex and fast-changing environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing aspirations in a deadline-driven situation
  • Remains focused under pressure, thinking clearly and objectively
  • Strong planning and organising skills including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and build successful relationships at all levels.
